5-Wall Gaylord Box Size Finder
Pick the most efficient 48 × 40 in height for your product based on density and target fill weight. The right size hits both your weight limit and your cube limit at the same time — anything else wastes freight cost.
The 48 × 40 × 36 in (40.0 ft³) is the smallest standard height that holds your 35.3 ft³ at the target weight — good cube-to-weight balance for your product density.
Density × interior cube = max theoretical weight. Real-world fill rarely exceeds 85% due to packing inefficiency. If your target weight requires more cube than the chosen size, the recommendation steps up to a taller height.
How this works
Two limits govern Gaylord sizing: weight capacity (3,000 lb static load on 5-wall) and cube capacity (the box's interior volume). The efficient pick fills both at the same time.
If your product density is high, weight will limit you before cube does — spec a shorter box so you're not paying freight on empty headspace. If density is low, cube limits you first — spec a taller box to maximize the cubic feet per pallet position.
